Macon Mercer Symphony Orchestra
Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra (MMSO) is a groundbreaking intergenerational collaboration between emerging artists of the McDuffie Center and principal musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to bring the grand power of symphony music back to Macon, conducted by GRAMMY award winner Ward Stare. Community collaboration gives voice to local stars and amplifies them on stage. The symphony will play an expansive program, from Beethoven to hip-hop. We want to be a vibrant gathering place for Middle Georgia to come together and celebrate. More music will be Macon’s #MondayMotivation. Major funding for the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra is provided by the Peyton Anderson Foundation.
Monday, Feb. 14
Spend a love-filled Valentine’s Day with Tchaikovsky’s Overture to Romeo and Juliet and Symphony No. 4, considered his greatest compositional work. Also, rising star double bassist/composer Xavier Foley will perform For Justice and Peace, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the Sphinx Organization.
